Then choose 2 from a range of exciting optional modules to complete your qualification with remote tutor support:

Assessing learning in the outdoors

Developing and adapting outdoor space for effective learning

Gardening skills

Learning theories for outdoor learning

Learning, play and development in the outdoors

Outdoor learning practitioner

Principles of play work within the outdoor curriculum

Teaching in the outdoors (this counts as 2 modules)

Outdoor Curriculum

This qualification has been designed to enable individuals to gain skills and knowledge to support delivery of the National Curriculum through outdoor play and activities.  This will support educational organisations, home educators, rangers services and others to offer outdoor learning and increase opportunities for the delivery of outdoor learning linked to National Curriculum subjects.

Progression Routes


Learners who successfully complete the Open College Network West Midlands Level 3 Award in Outdoor Curriculum Co-ordination may move directly into teaching delivery of National Curricumlum subjects in outdoor settings.

Entry Requirements


Learners will need a good working knowledge of the National Curriculum and to be aged 18 or over to access the course.
